Maxpo 2017 exhibition was a success!

Maxpo 2017 has come to its conclusion finalizing the biggest transport industry exhibitions of the year 2017 in Finland.
Sisu Polar team would like to thank all Maxpo guests. The weather conditions was not favourable but it did not slow down the action.

SISU POLAR MINING TRUCK FIELDED

The Finnish truck manufacturer Sisu Auto together with German special equipment supplier for Agriculture and Industry, Fliegl Corporation, have together designed and manufactured a new product capable of bringing additional Mobility, Availability and Productivity for Mining Industry, the Super-Polar SISU mining truck with integrated Fliegl Push-off Platform.

The improved performance necessary in the challenging mine environment is based on the purpose-built and robust frame and suspension structure, as well as the task-specific Push-off Platform, which keeps the centre of gravity low during the transport and unloading, and allows the operation in low building environment, too. Otherwise the truck utilises the same technology basis as the rest of the Sisu Polar range. Thereby, economy and serviceability of the truck in question are optimal.

The Super-Polar SISU mining truck is available in various driveline configurations. The newly introduced unit is equipped with 10×6 driveline for the additional Mobility, with a powerful 625 hp engine by Daimler, and a turbo retarder clutch by Voith. Availability of the Super-Polar mining trucks comes from the fact that the chosen components are mass produced, and available through global supply chain, even though the truck itself is tailored especially for the heavy-duty operation, and for payloads exceeding the average.

The first customer for the new SISU Super-Polar truck is a leading global producer of industrial minerals, having worldwide presence in more than 50 countries. Partner for after sales services in this case is the local authorized Mercedes-Benz representative in Mittelkärnten, Moser Kfz Handels-GmbH.

– We are pleased to be back in the mining related transport business says Timo Korhonen, the Managing Director and Chairman of Sisu Auto. Earlier experiences dating back to 1980’s and 1990’s involving such legendary products as SISU SRH 450 Mammoth and SISU SRH 300 Bambino are a solid basis for which building of this modern and technically up-to-date product family is possible. Back then, as often has been the case in the history of Finnish SISU, we were ahead of our time. Now, the time is right to introduce again the productive method of transport, utilising the standard truck technology, to the harshest mining operations, Mr. Korhonen continues.

In addition to the mining end-use, the SISU Super-Polar truck is also very versatile and therefore suitable for other applications and end uses requiring that extra Productivity, too.

KULJETUS 2017 FAIR WAS A SUCCESS – HYBRID INTRODUCED

The Kuljetus 2017 Fair in Jyväskylä was a success. Almost 16,000 transport professionals visited the fair. The absolute highlight of the Transportation 2017 fair was when we introduced the new Sisu Polar diesel – electricity – hybrid on Thursday, May 18 at 14:00. A Hybrid that is the result of Finnish excellence developed together with Visedo Oy, Exertus Oy and the University of Oulu.

On display at our fair stand was a comprehensive Sisu Polar Range and also the new Sisu Polar Timber Finland 100 anniversary series truck.

We would like to thank all of our stand visitors and partners. You made Kuljetus 2017 an unforgettable event.

Here comes the new Super-Polar mining truck!

First heavy Sisu Polar 10×6 ordered by a global Austrian mining company was shipped to Germany the 6th of January, where a custom-built Pusher platform will be mounted. Delivery to the customer will take place in February, when the mining truck with a payload of 45 tonnes will begin its work. The truck is built on the proven reinforced SISU 460mm high frame a support frameless solution with the same basic components  as in the heavy-duty standard-Polar models. A three driving axle suspension system has been specially developed to carry the large total weight and to always distribute the load evenly on each axle giving the truck great towing capacity in extreme conditions.

The powerline is based on a 625 hp M-B engine, 16 speed Powershift 3 gearbox with TurboClutch and reinforced SISU axles.

This super-Polar series is an important part of SISU Polar line-up development program that covers the most demanding, truck-based products transportation solutions.

New features and functions result in a more agile, versatile and efficient Carrier than the market has ever seen before.

Weight distribution

No weight distribution problems will occur at rear-end of the truck, because the maximum technically permissible bogie weight is 33,5 tonnes. The distance between the front axles has been reduced by 50 mm shifting the center of gravity more forward than before  and at the same time keeping the axle loads within permittable limits.

Frame and Grid

The full-lenght double frame enables a support frameless structure between the 2nd and 3rd axle. Making it possible to mount the grid as low as possible and at the same time achieving a lower point of gravity. Also the distance between the 4th and 5th axle is reduced by 90 mm to achieve a lowered loading angle. A hole blade with float feature is attached to the ramp.

Axle features

Inplemented from the 5-axle SISU Polar Rock is in cabin pressure halving of the 5th steering axle with lift and pressure increase feature to 2nd axle.

Remote control

Work lights and the hydraulic stern ramp can now be remotely controlled.

Fuel and Adblue

The Carrier is equipped with a E type-approved aluminium combined fuel and AdBlue tank.

SISU POLAR HAULER

Sisu Polar Hauler

The First SISU for heavy haulage was delivered on 23th of March. The truck is fitted with Eaton Fuller manual transmission and a 625 hp / 3000Nm 16l engine. Eaton Fuller RTLO-22918B transmission is equipped with 18+4 gears including crawler gears.

Gear ratio of the transmission is 14,4:1 and in reverse 15,06:1 also including two overdrive gears witch gear ratio are 0,86:1 and 0,73:1 making the overall ratio 19,7:1.

The chosen gear ratio is ideal for getting into motion and slow maneuvering still keeping the rpm in reasonable readings at cruising speed.  The benefit of 18 gears make the gap between gears extremely small and it´s easier to find the right ratio with even possibility to gear up while at steep rises pulling heavy loads.

Made for heavy haulage the SISU is a 8×4 truck with technically allowable axle loads 10 tn + 7,5 tn + 16 tn + 16 tn. Total weight of the heavy hauler is 49,5 tn. Because of the big axle loads the truck is fitted with durable 5-leaf parabolic springs, electrically powered Servotwin –steering and 16 tn drive shafts and cooled axle hubs.

Fitted behind the cabin is a rack designed by SISU fitting 820 L fuel tank, 200L hydraulic tank, compressed air tanks and big tool boxes. Easy access to the sockets and toolboxes is made possible by a walking level with folding stairs the rack is bolted to the frame of the truck.

SISU heavy hauler is fully factory-ready truck fitted with lights for wide loads and hydraulics for tipping and tailboard. The truck can also be used in front of a semitrailer designed for tipping. Special equipment like double fitting of electrical sockets and compressed air outlets, both behind the rack and in the rear of the truck, strong power supply for the trailer, electrical guidance for the axles of the trailer and the support frame designed for the heavy hauler.
