Handling and Driving Caracteristics
UTILIZING LATEST TECHNOLOGY FOR THE DRIVERS NEEDS
Loaded or unloaded on bad roads, purposespecific manufactured steel springs makes driving enjoyable and smooth. The front suspension is fitted to work together with the rigid frame, which ensures comfortable mileage for the driver. The torsion rigid frame reduces the jittering and makes driving behavior easily predictable.
SISU STEERING SYSTEM – DESIGNED FOR MULTIPLE STEERING AXLES. LIGHT AND DEPENDABLE IN ALL CIRCUMSTANCES.
Depending on the purpose of the vehicle, the additional axles can be mounted either with mechanical or electro-hydraulic steering. Electro-hydraulic steering causes no wear and tear because of no moving parts. Electro-hydraulic steering enables high operating pressure, combined with a large steering cylinder they guarantee the best steering of the axle and staying upright when needed.
Steering gears are available in two different types, the traditional 1-circuit steering gear and as a new option electrical powered SERVOTWIN steering. SERVOTWIN bases on an electric motor bringing additional power, which makes steering very precise and light for the driver even at slow speed. SERVOTWIN reduces fuel consumption and there is no need for additional continuous hydraulic circuits and pumps for the 2-circuit steering system.
Axles and Traction
SISU IS A PIONEER, THE FIRST TO INTRODUCE BOGIE DRIVE WITH DISCONNECTING ABILITY AND LIFT. A HYDRAULIC JACK INTEGRATED INTO THE STRUCTURE OF THE CHASSIS, GIVING EFFICIENT LIFTING CAPACITY EVEN LOADED. TRACTIONS; 6×4, 8×4 and 10×4.
When it comes to four and five axle trucks, Sisu Polar has superior terrain abilities. Liftable rear axles guarantee extraordinary drivability also unloaded, reducing fuel consumption and reducing tire wear. Factory-ready four and five axle trucks are available with at least two liftable axles.
Sisu axles 8 , 9 and 10-ton axles are heavy-duty axles. In additional axles a pressure control system adjusts axle loads that are directly in proposition with the steel springs.
THE HIGH C-PROFILE FRAME (C460) USED IN THE SISU POLAR IS DUE TO IT´S RIGIDNESS AND BUILDABILITY SUPERIOR TO ALL OTHERS.
The frame of each Sisu Polar is designed and manufactured keeping in mind the purpose of the vehicle. End use specific equipment is integrated into the vehicle frame, thus, forming part of the vehicle body and load-bearing structure. Excess holes in the frame are not required. The result is a strain resistant first-class structure.
Due to its superior fatigue resistant high c-profile frame the Sisu Polar is well-known for excellent tipping stability. The C-460 frame guarantees the best possible driving capabilities.
Recent further development of the frame by altering the radius and added precision to the manufacturing process makes the C460 a first-class frame.
Trucks built based on the high c-profile frame are notably lighter than a low profile reinforced subframe truck.
As an example, a 4-axle Sisu Polar gravel truck built on the C460 frame is hundreds of kilograms lighter than a truck fitted with a subframe.
Powershift 3 Transmission
MERCEDES-BENZ POWERSHIFT 3 – USER FRIENDLY AND 20% FASTER GEAR SHIFTING THAN ITS PREDECESSOR.
Electro-pneumatically controlled transmission allows for high-efficiency , which results in reduced fuel consumption and minimized emissions . For the user it brings comfort and easy handling of the truck.
The 16 – speed transmissions speed range can be adapted precisely to suit the respective driving condition , resulting in easier start up from soft ground. Due to the high efficiency gearbox economical fuel consumption is guaranteed even in highway use.
Separate functions connected to the automatized gearbox make handling of the vehicle easier in challenging circumstances. Crawler gears contribute to precise handling at low speed and at start up. Rocking mode makes it easier for the vehicle to release itself independently from sludgy, marshy surfaces.
Straight-six Mercedes – Benz engines are manufactured to heavy-duty requirements. Two engines (displacement of 12.8 l and 15.6 l) and six output sizes enable the most efficient and economical option for any purpose. Extremely wide torque makes startups with heavy loads easier and reduce the need for gear shifting, which saves fuel and produces less emissions, as well as transmission wear reduces significantly.
Sisu Polar range features the world’s largest commercial vehicle manufacturer Daimler AG: s extensively tested high technology Euro VI engines. The Exhaust gas recirculation system (EGR), the SCR- catalytic converter that is combined to the Silencer unit, an oxidation catalytic converter and the particle filter in combination reduce nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons and particulate emissions while still maintaining high power and low fuel consumption.
X -Pulse common rail technique, achieves efficient and clean burning of fuel, low consumption and low emissions. This system allows the sprayed fuel to be adjusted to droplet size, quantity and pressure; it is possible to increase the pressure up to 2100 bar.
The three-phase high-performance motor brakes fitted as standard equipment in Sisu Polar trucks improve driving safety and vehicle handling especially at heavy loads. Thanks to this feature, the brakes last longer.
